Q&A with Nita Tandon on Building a Value-driven B-Corp

What inspired you to start Dalcini Stainless?

It started with a simple but urgent realization—our daily habits, like packing food in plastic containers, were exposing us to harmful chemicals. 

As a mom, I wasn’t willing to compromise on my child’s health, and as an entrepreneur, I saw an opportunity to create a better solution. I looked to a time-tested material—stainless steel—but modernized it to be seamless, easy to clean, and truly sustainable. 

Dalcini Stainless was born out of a commitment to health, safety, and a world without plastic waste. It’s not just about food storage; it’s about shaping a healthier future.

What is the bravest thing you’ve done while on your journey? 

Walking away from the “way things have been done” and creating something entirely different. When I launched Dalcini Stainless, I rejected the norm—no plastic, no breakable glass, and no complicated parts. I insisted on a seamless, sustainable, and ethically made product, even when so many told me it couldn’t be done. 

The bravest moment? Committing to my vision despite the challenges, from navigating global supply chain disruptions to proving that a better, safer, and truly circular alternative to plastic could succeed. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth every risk.

What is a non-negotiable in your routine that keeps you focused?

MORNING CLARITY.

Before the emails, meetings, and problem-solving begin, I take time to ground myself—whether it’s a brisk walk, a quiet coffee, or a few minutes of mindful reflection. It’s my non-negotiable because clarity fuels focus. 

In business, especially as an entrepreneur, the to-do list never ends, and challenges are constant. But starting my day with intention ensures that I’m not just reacting—I’m leading with purpose.

What has been your biggest challenge while on this journey?

Navigating the unpredictable—especially global supply chain disruptions. When the Red Sea conflict delayed shipments, what should have taken five weeks stretched into five months. That meant unfillable purchase orders and tough conversations with retailers. But challenges like these have reinforced my resilience and adaptability. I’ve had to find creative solutions, strengthen relationships, and stay committed to my mission.

Building a business that challenges the status quo was never going to be easy, but every obstacle has been a lesson in persistence and purpose. 

What advice would you give to other female entrepreneurs?  

Own your vision unapologetically. There will be moments when people question your ideas, your leadership, or even your ability to succeed. Don’t let that shake you. Trust your instincts, surround yourself with people who elevate you, and stay relentless in your pursuit. 

And remember—success isn’t just about how hard you work; it’s about how boldly you stand by your values. The world needs more businesses led by women who are unafraid to do things differently.

How do you define success?

Success isn’t just about revenue or recognition—it’s about impact. It’s knowing that Dalcini Stainless is helping people live healthier, reducing plastic waste, and proving that business can be a force for good. It’s seeing a shift in how people think about sustainability and making choices that benefit both their families and the planet. If my work sparks change—whether in households, boardrooms, or industries—then I consider that success.

What is the next project or goal you would like to work on? 

My next goal is to expand Dalcini Stainless into more markets, making sustainable, non-toxic food storage the standard, not the exception. I’m also focused on growing partnerships with like-minded companies and organizations that prioritize health, sustainability, and ethical business practices.

Beyond that, I want to continue advocating for better industry standards—pushing for policies and practices that support truly circular, waste-free solutions. The mission isn’t just about selling products; it’s about changing the way we think about consumption and sustainability on a larger scale.

What is your favorite book or podcast?

I love books and podcasts that challenge the status quo and inspire action. One of my favorites is Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia. It’s a powerful reminder that business can be built with purpose, ethics, and a commitment to sustainability.
